Visit to the National Museum of Flight

Last weekend we went to the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune, east of Edinburgh. I took dozens of photos, and I'd like to include a few of my favourites here.

This is a Scottish Aviation JetStream business twin turboprop. One of the features of this aircraft that made it so popular was that the cabin was high enough to stand up in. A lot of other small business aircraft are too small to allow you to stand, which brings to mind the image of a very self-important businessman crouched over as he finds his seat ... being followed very closely by the nose of another very self-important businessman ...

Another feature of the holiday - the pub was 50 metres away!

A very good pub it was, too. Excellent scottish real ales, and top quality food.

The evening light was stunning

And another big feature of this holiday was the colour of the trees. They were taking ages to turn; the leaves were not dropping as soon as they usually do, and developed into beautiful colours. Not quite up to Vermont standards, but close. I'd trade that off against an eight hour flight!

Another shot in Strath - mountains of Skye in the background

An evening in Strath

This shot was taken across the small bay at Strath, just using my camera phone, as were all these shots. The air was absolutely still and the water was a perfect mirror: look at the clouds and houses in the reflections!
