Wilderness camping at Sharpe's Track, Lorne

For some reason, my internet connection stopped working while we were in Oz, so I couldn't upload any pictures. Now I'm back, I'll put up some more, starting with this one.

This was just outside Lorne, heading down to the Great Ocean Road after leaving Phillip Island. You would never guess that this was just a few kilometers from a town. The road from Lorne climbed steeply into the Eastern end of the Great Otway National Park, became narrower and rougher, and ended at this water hole. You could go further with a 4WD vehicle, but, able as our van was, it was no off-roader! It was here that we heard our first Koala bear roar. I was glad we'd been warned about this terrifying sound, otherwise we'd have thought we were about to meet a grizzly, not a koala bear ... Posted by Picasa

The perfect donut

Improvised entertainment outside the beer-tent at the Australian MotoGP. The rider created a perfectly round donut, parked his bike and marked the centre with an empty beercan before heading for the bar. It was wierd: for ages, no-one would walk into the circle of melted rubber, but walked round it. We were crowded shoulder to shoulder, but didn't step inside the ring!

The action begins!

Ear boggling noise :-)
