A sad sight

This is my new PC, which I was crowing about so much, boxed up and waiting to go back to the supplier after a motherboard failure. Have to say that the supplier's response has been very good, and they had the grace to sound embarrassed, and were suitably apologetic.

Home at last

Having a celebratory glass of champagne very shortly after having arrived home for good

My street for seven weeks

This is the corridor as seen from my bedroom door. Very bare and very pink. It looked a lot smaller than I had thought it was, the first time I finally walked down it on my own two feet. Well, one of the feet was my own ... A lot of the nurses were more petite than I had thought as well :-)

Yet another view of the Astley Ainslie hospital

From the front door looking towards the physiotherapy dept. It really is picturesque you know. Where the carpark is now used to be a roundabout covered in flowers, according to one of the nurses, who'd been working there since 1959. I was two then!

Equipment corner

Swiss balls, weights, etc, aplenty

Down the gym

The gym

I spent most of my time doing physiotherapy here in the gym. Became my second home ... almost

Dining room again

Shot taken from the corner shown in the previous post

Dining room

Including the book and video library. The door goes out onto the veranda where Simon, Debbie and Denise were seen sunning themselves in an earlier post.

Typical menu

Food is ordered two or 3 days in advance. It's usually hard to remember what was ordered so dinner's often a surprise

Pretty nice for a hospital room

There's only two of us in each room, with one or two exceptions

Not an awful lot of space

And no privacy

I took a few pictures of my room to remind me

This place was home for about seven weeks, but I'm looking forward to getting back to my real home today.

Detail of the body

It's hard to get a decent picture because it's so reflective

In place with some of my other guitars

My 1979 vintage Sonex-180 is elsewhere.

Angus Young Signature SG

I like the Angus Devil on the headstock :->

Big prezzie for a big birthday (50th)

A fantastic Gibson SG electric guitar, just like the one used by AC/DC guitarist Angus Young, right down to his specification of pickup and tremolo arm. It's a beautiful natural mahogany which shows through under a heavy clear lacquer, and it plays like no other guitar I've ever played. An absolute dream come true after over 35 years of wanting one of these. Happy? I'm delirious

Cake detail

The confectioner even detailed the computer to show me playing Flight Simulator, my favourite computer game. Amazing!

Birthday Cake

We celebrated my birthday early as I would be back in hospital on the day. This was my superb birthday cake, with the figure representing me playing on my computer.

Another weekend at home, so it's BBQ time

And neighbour Bob B's reputation as a cat-hater goes up in smoke!
